Plateau State Government Eases Curfew in Jos North

The Plateau State Government has announced a partial relaxation of the 48-hour curfew earlier imposed on Jos North Local Government Area following the recent violence in Angwan Rukuba. The decision comes after authorities confirmed a noticeable return of calm in the area.

In a statement released মঙ্গলবার evening, the government under Caleb Mutfwang said the adjustment was based on fresh security assessments indicating that the situation had improved significantly. Residents, who had been under strict movement restrictions, will now be allowed limited hours to go about their daily activities.

According to the new directive, which takes effect from April 1, 2026, movement within Jos North will be permitted between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. each day. Authorities have encouraged residents to make the most of this window for essential and lawful activities while continuing to comply with all security guidelines.

The government stressed that while the easing of the curfew reflects progress, caution remains critical. Security agencies will continue patrols and surveillance operations to ensure that peace is maintained and to prevent any resurgence of violence.

Officials also called on citizens to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative, emphasizing that public support is essential to sustaining stability in the region. The administration reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property across Plateau State.

The statement, signed by Joyce Lohya Ramnap, praised residents for their patience and resilience during the period of restrictions, noting that their cooperation played a key role in restoring order.
