Nigerian fintech company Interswitch has partnered with Asaba Airport Company to introduce a new smart parking solution at Asaba International Airport, marking another step toward modernising airport operations in Nigeria.
The newly deployed system, known as the Interswitch Parking Management Platform (PMP), is designed to automate parking operations and improve access control across the airport. The technology introduces a fully digital and cashless parking experience aimed at making entry, exit, and parking management faster, safer, and more efficient for travellers, visitors, and airport staff.
With the rollout of the platform, Asaba Airport is moving away from traditional manual parking processes to a more intelligent and centralised digital system. The new solution is expected to improve operational efficiency while also strengthening revenue monitoring and transparency.
Speaking on the partnership, Vice President of Transport Ecosystem at Interswitch, Nnenna Ajanwachuku described the collaboration as part of the company’s broader mission to deploy technology solutions that improve efficiency and user experience across essential sectors.
According to her, the Parking Management Platform goes beyond solving parking challenges by supporting smarter infrastructure, improving accountability, and helping organisations unlock long-term sustainability through better operational systems.
She noted that the implementation positions Asaba Airport as a model for what modern airport infrastructure and operations should look like in Nigeria.
Also commenting on the partnership, Managing Director of Asaba Airport Company, Christophe Penninck said the collaboration represents a major advancement in the airport’s commitment to operational excellence and improved service delivery.
He explained that the introduction of the automated parking and access control system will not only enhance convenience for passengers and visitors but also improve internal processes, strengthen transparency, and optimise revenue management.
Beyond simplifying parking payments through digital and cashless solutions, the platform enables airport management to monitor vehicle movement in real time, enforce access control more effectively, and make better use of available parking spaces.
The centralised system also gives airport operators greater visibility into day-to-day parking activities, improving coordination and reducing inefficiencies commonly associated with fragmented or manual systems.
This transition reflects a broader shift in Nigeria’s aviation sector, where technology is increasingly being adopted to improve infrastructure, passenger experience, and operational management.
