Iranian Drone and Missile Strike Reportedly Hits Kuwait International Airport, One Dead

Kuwait was thrown into shock on Wednesday after reports emerged that Iranian drone and missile attacks struck Kuwait International Airport, causing a fatality, multiple injuries, and a complete suspension of air traffic at one of the country’s busiest aviation hubs.

Authorities in Kuwait described the incident as “criminal Iranian aggression,” alleging that the strike targeted civilian and vital infrastructure, including Terminal 1 of the airport. According to the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defence, hostile drones hit the terminal building, causing significant structural damage and forcing an immediate evacuation of the facility.

Flights were quickly diverted as emergency response teams moved in to secure the area and prevent further risk to passengers and staff. Operations at the airport were fully suspended following the attack, with authorities working to assess the extent of the destruction.

Eyewitness visuals circulating online showed thick plumes of grey smoke rising from multiple sections of the terminal, with parts of the building engulfed as emergency crews battled to contain the situation. Inside the terminal, extensive damage was reported, with shattered glass, collapsed ceilings, and debris scattered across entry points and surrounding areas. Visibility was severely reduced in some sections due to heavy smoke.

The Kuwaiti government strongly condemned the attack, stating that the strike hit civilian infrastructure and resulted in casualties and widespread damage. Officials confirmed that at least one person was killed while several others sustained injuries.

The Embassy of India in Kuwait also confirmed that an Indian national was among those killed in the attack. In a statement shared on social media platform X, the mission expressed deep condolences to the family of the deceased and acknowledged the tragic loss.

As investigations continue, the incident has heightened regional tensions and raised fresh concerns about the vulnerability of civilian infrastructure amid escalating cross-border hostilities. Authorities in Kuwait say security measures have been intensified as recovery efforts continue at the damaged airport terminal.
