Popular TikTok food critic Keith Lee says he is “thankful to be here” after narrowly escaping a potentially fatal collision with a wrong-way driver in Texas.
Lee said he was driving with his wife, Ronni, and friends on US 67 near Dallas when a vehicle suddenly appeared traveling directly toward them in the wrong direction.
According to Lee, a vehicle ahead of him swerved after noticing the oncoming car. Lee then reacted by moving behind a large truck to avoid a head-on collision.
The wrong-way vehicle passed dangerously close to Lee’s car. Moments later, Lee said he watched through his rearview mirror as another vehicle behind him attempted to avoid the wrong-way driver, lost control and crashed.
The incident was followed by a fatal collision in Duncanville, Texas. Reports citing authorities say one person was killed and two others were injured. The wrong-way driver was reportedly in a vehicle that had been reported stolen from Irving and was arrested on an intoxication manslaughter charge.
Lee later shared his account of the terrifying experience with his followers, describing it as a “near-death experience.” He said he learned the following morning that someone had died in the crash and expressed condolences to the victim’s family.
Reflecting on how narrowly he and his passengers escaped, Lee credited his faith for their survival. “I’m thankful to be here,” Lee said, emphasizing that the close call could have ended very differently.
The incident has prompted Lee to reflect on how quickly an ordinary drive can turn into a life-threatening situation, while also drawing attention to the dangers posed by wrong-way drivers on highways.
