The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the Accord Party and incumbent governor of Osun State, the winner of the 2026 Osun governorship election.
Adeleke secured 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
The result gives Adeleke another four-year term as governor after a closely contested election held across the state’s 30 local government areas.
INEC’s Returning Officer for the election, Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwale, announced Adeleke as the winner after the completion of the collation exercise in Osogbo. Adeleke won in 19 of the 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured 11.
The victory marks Adeleke’s second term in office. He first became governor in 2022 after defeating the then-incumbent Gboyega Oyetola.
The 2026 election attracted significant attention, particularly following legal and logistical developments ahead of polling day. The Independent National Electoral Commission proceeded with the election after resolving issues surrounding the final ballot.
With the official declaration, Adeleke has now been returned as governor of Osun State for another four-year term.
