Osun State Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has taken an early lead in the ongoing collation of results from the state’s governorship election.
Adeleke has so far secured 177,572 votes based on results announced during the ongoing collation, putting him ahead at this stage of the process.
The final outcome, however, cannot be determined until the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) completes the collation and officially declares the winner.
The election has attracted significant attention, with voters across Osun’s 30 local government areas casting their ballots amid heightened political competition.
INEC commenced the collation of results after polling ended, with results from individual polling units and wards being progressively collated at the appropriate levels.
Adeleke, who is seeking another term in office, is facing competition from candidates including the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate and other parties participating in the election.
As collation continues, attention remains focused on the results from the outstanding local government areas, which could significantly affect the final standings.
The electoral commission is expected to announce the final result after all relevant results have been received, verified and collated.
For now, Adeleke’s 177,572 votes represent an early lead, not the final result of the Osun governorship election.
