Peter Okoye Alleges Jude Okoye Filed Lawsuit to Stop Him from Performing P-Square Songs

The long-running dispute between the Okoye brothers has taken another dramatic turn, with singer Peter Okoye alleging that his elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, has filed a fresh lawsuit seeking to prevent him from performing songs released under the iconic P-Square brand.

Peter made the claim in a video posted on his official social media platforms, where he responded to recent comments by Jude concerning the ownership of the P-Square brand and the group’s ongoing legal and business disagreements.

According to Peter, the latest lawsuit is separate from the ongoing legal proceedings involving Northside Music and government authorities. He clarified that he is only appearing as a witness in that case and that the new legal action specifically targets his ability to perform P-Square’s music.

Peter alleged that during a recent court hearing, Jude sought an order to stop him from performing songs associated with the legendary music duo. He further claimed that his twin brother, Paul Okoye, supported the application.

Speaking about the court proceedings, Peter said the attempt to stop him from performing was the first issue raised during the hearing, describing it as another chapter in the ongoing family and business conflict.

The singer also challenged Jude’s claim that he was responsible for bringing P-Square to Lagos in 2005, a claim Peter argued was inconsistent with the group’s history.

According to Peter, P-Square had already established itself before relocating to Lagos, noting that the duo released its first album in 2003 after spending several years building its music career and securing its first management agreement.

He maintained that the group had already achieved significant progress before Jude became actively involved in its management, questioning the basis for any claim of ownership over the P-Square brand.

Peter further alleged that Jude was still a student during the early stages of the group’s career and disputed the narrative presented in court regarding the band’s beginnings.

In his remarks, Peter claimed that he played a major role in supporting the group’s early development, alleging that he sold his personal car to finance their first residence and retained receipts as evidence. He also claimed that he remained committed to the group’s growth during difficult periods, contrary to the account he says has been presented by his brother.

The latest allegations add another layer to the prolonged dispute between the Okoye brothers, which has centered on the ownership of the P-Square brand, music royalties, management decisions, and other business interests linked to one of Africa’s most successful music groups.
