Malaysia has reaffirmed its longstanding policy of not recognizing Israel, with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim declaring that any Israeli national found in the country will be deported immediately.
The statement was made on Wednesday as Malaysian authorities investigate allegations that an Israeli citizen may have been involved in the operations of a private residential community in the southern state of Johor.
Speaking on the matter, Prime Minister Anwar said the relevant government agencies had been directed to thoroughly investigate the claims. He stressed that the government would take firm action if the allegations were confirmed.
According to Anwar, Malaysia will not compromise on issues relating to its immigration and foreign policy, reiterating that Israeli citizens are not permitted to remain in the country.
The prime minister stated that any Israeli national found to be in Malaysia would be deported immediately because the country does not maintain diplomatic relations with Israel.
Malaysia has long prohibited the entry of Israeli passport holders except under exceptional circumstances requiring special government approval. The country’s policy reflects its position of not recognizing the State of Israel and its longstanding support for the Palestinian cause.
The latest development follows allegations involving Network School, a startup community operating in Johor. The Johor State Government had earlier urged the federal authorities to launch a formal investigation into claims that an Israeli individual was linked to the community’s activities.
In response, Malaysia’s Home Ministry initiated an investigation to determine the accuracy of the allegations and whether any immigration or national security laws had been violated.
Meanwhile, the Immigration Department disclosed that officials carried out inspections involving 266 foreign nationals residing within an international community in Forest City, Johor.
According to immigration authorities, all individuals inspected during the operation were found to possess valid immigration documents, with no immediate violations detected during the exercise.
The investigation into the allegations remains ongoing, and Malaysian authorities have indicated that appropriate action will be taken should evidence confirm the presence or involvement of any Israeli national in violation of the country’s immigration and foreign policy regulations.
The latest statement from Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim underscores Malaysia’s continued adherence to its long-standing diplomatic position and signals that the government intends to strictly enforce its immigration policies while the investigation proceeds.
