Lagos Security Trust Fund Donates Bulletproof Vests and Helmets to Military Formations

The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has reinforced its commitment to strengthening security operations in Lagos with the donation of 150 bulletproof vests and 150 ballistic helmets to three military formations in the state.

The security intervention was announced on Monday in a statement released by the Fund, highlighting its continued efforts to support security agencies responsible for protecting lives and maintaining stability in Lagos and across Nigeria.

According to the statement, the donation was made under the leadership of the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, who hosted senior military commanders at the Fund’s headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja.

The visit brought together representatives from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, and Nigerian Air Force, as the Fund formally presented operational security equipment to boost ongoing security efforts across the state.

Each military formation received 50 bulletproof vests and 50 ballistic helmets. Beneficiaries included the Nigerian Army’s 9 Brigade, the Navy’s NNS Beecroft, and the 651 Base Services Group of the Nigerian Air Force.

The donated equipment was officially received by Brigadier General Ayokunle Olufemi Owolabi, Commander of the 9 Brigade; Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu, Commander of NNS Beecroft; and Air Commodore Mohammed Imam, Commander of the 651 Base Services Group.

Speaking during the presentation, Dr. Ogunsan emphasized that national security goes beyond weapons and military operations, noting that the real strength of a nation lies in the collaboration between institutions, citizens, and strategic partners working together to ensure peace and stability.

He praised members of the armed forces for their dedication and sacrifices in safeguarding Lagos and the country at large, describing them as the people who continuously work to keep Nigeria safe.

Ogunsan also reassured the service chiefs that the Lagos State Security Trust Fund remains committed to supporting security agencies with the tools and resources needed to effectively carry out their duties.

In addition to the equipment donation, he revealed that the new LSSTF office complex, currently under construction and expected to be completed in October, will further enhance coordination between the Fund and security agencies. According to him, the facility is being designed to serve as an additional operational base and “second office” for armed forces personnel in Lagos.

Responding on behalf of the military commanders, Brigadier General Owolabi expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government and the Lagos State Security Trust Fund for their consistent support to the armed forces.

He described the donation as a timely and valuable contribution that will strengthen ongoing security operations and improve the capacity of personnel deployed across the state.

The latest intervention once again reflects Lagos State’s continued investment in security infrastructure and operational support, as authorities seek to maintain peace and address evolving security challenges in one of Africa’s busiest cities.
