Ooni of Ife Welcomes Twin Princes With Wife Mariam Ajibola

The Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has announced the birth of twin princes with his wife, Mariam Ajibola, marking another significant moment for the Royal House of Oduduwa. The revered monarch shared the joyful news in a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Friday, expressing gratitude to God for the safe arrival of the children.

In his announcement, the Ooni celebrated the expansion of the royal family and congratulated the entire House of Oduduwa on the birth of the twins. He also confirmed that both Mariam Ajibola and the newborn princes are in good health.

The monarch described the birth as another blessing and offered thanks for what he called God’s wondrous works and abundant favor upon the royal household. The arrival of the twin princes has generated excitement among supporters of the royal family, particularly within Ile-Ife, the historic Yoruba kingdom regarded as the ancestral home of the Yoruba people.

The Ooni remains one of Nigeria’s most prominent traditional rulers and a highly respected cultural figure both locally and internationally. His personal life has often attracted public attention, especially following the end of his marriage to former queen Naomi Silekunola.

After that separation, the monarch entered into multiple marriages in 2022, wedding several queens within a relatively short period. Among the queens are Mariam Anako, Elizabeth Akinmuda, Tobiloba Phillips, Ashley Adegoke, Ronke Ademiluyi, and Temitope Adesegun.

The Ooni had previously addressed public curiosity surrounding his marriages while marking his 48th birthday and seventh coronation anniversary. At the time, he explained that his decisions were influenced by the traditional heritage and customs attached to the throne of Ife.

According to him, certain aspects of royal life are deeply rooted in cultural obligations that come with his position as custodian of the ancient kingdom. The birth of the twin princes is expected to further strengthen the royal lineage of Oduduwa, a symbol of cultural continuity and traditional heritage in Yoruba history.

News of the royal birth has continued to attract congratulatory messages from admirers, dignitaries, and well-wishers across Nigeria. As celebrations continue within the palace, the latest addition to the royal household marks a joyful chapter for the Ooni and the wider House of Oduduwa.
