US intelligence agencies have reportedly warned the Trump administration that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could take actions that may complicate or undermine ongoing efforts to secure a lasting peace agreement with Iran.
According to a report by the Washington Post, which cited current and former US officials, intelligence assessments suggest that Israel’s leadership may not fully align with Washington’s diplomatic push to stabilize relations with Tehran under a new peace framework.
The concerns come at a sensitive moment in Middle East diplomacy, as negotiations tied to the US-Iran agreement continue to unfold alongside renewed violence in Lebanon. One of the key components of the proposed framework includes an end to hostilities involving Hezbollah, the Iran-backed group operating in southern Lebanon.
