A young girl was injured and several residential properties were damaged in Bahrain after debris from intercepted Iranian drones fell into populated areas, highlighting the growing risks facing civilians as tensions continue to rise across the Middle East.
Bahraini authorities confirmed that an 11-year-old girl sustained minor injuries following the incident on Thursday. According to the country’s Interior Ministry, emergency responders treated the child at the scene, and her injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The ministry reported that debris from Iranian drones, which had been intercepted and destroyed before reaching their intended targets, landed in residential neighborhoods, causing damage to homes and vehicles. Some vehicles reportedly caught fire after being struck by falling fragments.
The affected areas included Hamad Town and parts of Manama, Bahrain’s capital, where emergency services and civil defense teams were immediately deployed to secure the locations and assist residents. Authorities said national ambulance and rescue units responded swiftly to minimize risks and assess the extent of the damage.
The incident comes against the backdrop of rapidly escalating tensions between Iran and the United States and its regional allies. Earlier, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for attacks targeting major U.S. military installations in the Gulf region.
According to statements released by the IRGC, military operations were directed at key American bases, including Ali Al Salem Air Base and Ahmad Al Jaber Air Base in Kuwait, as well as Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain. The claims have further intensified concerns about the possibility of a broader regional confrontation.
The latest developments follow recent U.S. military strikes in southern Iran, which triggered a sharp response from Tehran. Adding to international concerns, Iranian authorities subsequently announced the closure of the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical maritime routes for global oil and energy shipments.
