Police Release Dramatic Footage of Rescue Operation That Freed Adebayo Adelabu’s Sister and Twin Sons

The Nigeria Police Force has released footage from the operation that led to the rescue of Busayo John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, days after they were abducted by gunmen in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The video, made public on Sunday, provides a glimpse into the high-risk operation carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT), which successfully secured the victims’ freedom and led to the arrest of suspected members of the kidnapping gang.

The rescue operation took place at a residential location in Ibadan, where investigators tracked the kidnappers following several days of intelligence gathering, surveillance, and coordinated tactical efforts.

Footage from the operation showed armed police operatives moving into the area, securing the scene, and safely escorting the rescued victims away from the kidnappers’ hideout. The operation has been described by authorities as intelligence-led and carefully executed to ensure the safety of the victims.

According to a statement issued by the Nigeria Police Force, the rescue mission was carried out at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Saturday after investigators successfully identified the location where the victims were being held.

Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, said the operation culminated in a confrontation between police operatives and the kidnappers. During the exchange, two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded, while security personnel recovered two rifles from the scene.

Authorities confirmed that Busayo John-Paul and her twin sons were rescued unharmed and have since been reunited with their family. The victims are reportedly receiving medical attention and other necessary support following their ordeal.

The successful rescue brought relief to family members, friends, and concerned residents who had followed developments since the abduction was reported earlier in the week.

Police authorities also disclosed that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest other members of the kidnapping syndicate who reportedly fled the scene during the operation.

Preliminary intelligence gathered after the rescue suggests that some of the escaping suspects may have sustained gunshot wounds during the confrontation. Investigators are now pursuing multiple leads as part of an expanded manhunt aimed at dismantling the entire criminal network.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all individuals connected to the kidnapping are apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The rescue operation has been widely praised as a major breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and violent crime, particularly at a time when concerns over security remain high in several parts of the country.

As investigations continue, authorities have assured the public that efforts remain focused on bringing all fleeing suspects to justice and strengthening measures to combat criminal activities across Oyo State and beyond.
