President Bola Tinubu has officially commissioned the newly built corporate headquarters of the Nigeria Revenue Service in Abuja, marking a major milestone in the country’s ongoing tax system restructuring.
The inauguration event also signaled the formal transition from the former Federal Inland Revenue Service to the newly restructured Nigeria Revenue Service, a move aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and revenue generation under the current administration.
During the ceremony, President Tinubu praised the agency’s progress and officially declared the facility open. A video of the event, shared by his Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, showed the president performing the ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside top government officials.
Among those present were the Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Zacch Adedeji, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, among other senior officials.
President Tinubu also read the commemorative plaque, which marked the official commissioning of the structure. He described the building as a symbol of integrity and institutional strength, reflecting the government’s push to modernize key revenue agencies.
According to details shared by Olusegun, the new headquarters is an impressive 16-storey complex with three towers and the capacity to accommodate about 3,000 employees.
The project forms part of broader reforms by the Tinubu administration to overhaul Nigeria’s tax administration system, streamline operations, and boost overall revenue performance for national development.
