ICPC Links Luxury Properties in Egypt to Former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai

Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has reportedly uncovered several real estate assets in Egypt that investigators believe are connected to Nasir El-Rufai.

The properties were allegedly identified during an ongoing investigation into El-Rufai’s tenure as governor of Kaduna State. According to reports, the commission’s probe traced multiple assets located in high-end residential areas in Cairo.

Investigators are said to have linked a total of nine properties to the former governor. These include three luxury villas and six apartments situated in upscale neighbourhoods of the Egyptian capital.

Among the locations mentioned are Arabella Estate and Banafsig Estate, both located in the rapidly developing New Cairo district. Properties in these exclusive communities reportedly sell for between $1 million and $1.3 million, reflecting their status among the city’s most sought-after residential areas.

The reported discovery forms part of the ICPC’s broader investigation into financial activities during El-Rufai’s time in office. However, the commission has not yet publicly released detailed findings about the alleged ownership structure of the properties or the specific evidence linking them to the former governor.

El-Rufai has not officially responded to the latest claims regarding the Egyptian properties. However, since his arrest, he has consistently maintained his innocence, arguing that the allegations against him are politically motivated. He has also suggested that the investigation is linked to his political decisions and affiliations.

The case continues to draw significant public attention as Nigeria’s anti-corruption agencies intensify efforts to investigate alleged financial misconduct involving public officials both within and outside the country.

As the investigation progresses, observers expect further disclosures from authorities regarding the ownership and funding of the properties, as well as any potential legal actions that may follow.
