British rapper Central Cee has revealed that he has converted to Islam, sharing the news directly with fans during a recent livestream. The UK drill star, born Oakley Neil Caesar-Su, told viewers that he had taken his shahada and embraced Islam, prompting warm congratulations from friends who appeared alongside him on the stream.
“I just changed my name and took my shahada, I am a Muslim now,” the rapper said, confirming the personal milestone in a calm and matter-of-fact moment that quickly spread across social media. Prior to this announcement, Central Cee had never publicly aligned himself with a specific religion, making the revelation particularly notable for fans who have followed his rise closely.
Central Cee was born on June 4, 1998, in London to an English mother and a father of Guyanese and Chinese heritage. After his parents separated when he was seven, he was raised by his mother alongside his two younger brothers in Shepherd’s Bush, West London. His upbringing in the area would later influence both his sound and storytelling as an artist.
He began his music journey at a young age, first appearing in 2014 on an episode of the Fire in the Streets series. His earliest recorded song appearance came in January 2015 on the Ain’t On Nuttin Remix, where he featured alongside J Hus and other artists. Years of steady groundwork followed before his breakout moment arrived in June 2020 with the release of Day in the Life, a track that firmly placed him on the UK music map.
Since then, Central Cee has grown into one of the most recognisable names in UK drill, earning widespread acclaim and a devoted fan base. His latest disclosure adds a new chapter to his public story—one rooted not in music charts or viral hits, but in personal belief and identity.
