Controversial Nigerian entertainer DJ Chicken has come under heavy criticism after openly laughing at TikTok influencer Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, following the car crash that left the content creator hospitalized.
Peller was involved in a serious accident on Sunday along the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos after crashing his newly acquired Mercedes-Benz during an emotionally charged livestream. The incident occurred amid reports of a breakup with his girlfriend and fellow content creator, Jarvis, and quickly triggered widespread concern across social media.
While many fans and colleagues expressed sympathy and called for prayers for Peller’s recovery, DJ Chicken took a contrasting stance that has since ignited backlash online. In a video circulating on social platforms, the entertainer was seen laughing and making remarks suggesting he was pleased with the incident, a reaction many viewers described as insensitive and disturbing given the circumstances.
The crash itself unfolded during a livestream in which Peller appeared visibly distressed and emotionally overwhelmed. Moments later, his vehicle collided with a barrier, leaving the luxury car badly damaged. He was rescued by bystanders and rushed to the hospital, where he is currently receiving medical care.
DJ Chicken’s comments have fueled intense debate, with critics accusing him of mocking a potentially life-threatening situation and lacking empathy. Supporters of Peller argue that regardless of personal differences or online rivalries, celebrating another person’s misfortune crosses a moral line.
