Syrian army personnel have drawn regional attention after chanting pro-Gaza slogans during a military parade in the city of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria. The moment, captured on video and widely circulated online, shows soldiers marching in formation while voicing chants referencing Gaza amid the ongoing conflict in the Palestinian territory.
During the parade, troops were heard repeating chants that described Gaza as a symbol marked by bombardment and destruction, while also invoking religious expressions of solidarity. The chants were delivered in unison as the soldiers marched, reflecting strong emotional and political alignment with the situation in Gaza.
Deir ez-Zor, a strategic city that has witnessed years of conflict during Syria’s civil war, has recently hosted several military displays aimed at showcasing force readiness and unity. This particular parade, however, stood out due to its explicit references to Gaza, highlighting how the war has resonated beyond Palestine and influenced rhetoric across the Middle East.
The demonstration comes amid heightened regional tensions and widespread protests and expressions of support for Gaza across Arab and Muslim-majority countries. Governments, armed forces, and civilian groups have increasingly voiced political, moral, and religious positions in response to the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the enclave.
