A dramatic scene unfolded in Egypt as four government officials forcibly detained a Canadian activist allegedly affiliated with pro-Hamas demonstrations.
Eyewitnesses report that the man was physically restrained—each limb held by a separate officer—before being thrown into a security van and driven away from the scene. The incident, which occurred in broad daylight, has sparked concern among human rights observers and added to ongoing tensions surrounding the Gaza conflict.
The Canadian national had reportedly been participating in activities deemed politically sensitive by Egyptian authorities.

According to official sources, the activist was accused of engaging in unauthorized demonstrations and expressing open support for Hamas—an organization designated as a terrorist group by Egypt and several Western countries, including Canada.

Egyptian authorities have not released the activist’s name but confirmed that he has been expelled from the country for what they describe as “actions that threatened national security.” The swift and forceful deportation underscores Egypt’s hardline stance against any foreign involvement in pro-Hamas activism on its soil.
Egypt has long maintained strict policies on political dissent, particularly around issues linked to Gaza and Hamas, which governs the Palestinian enclave bordering Egypt. Cairo sees the group as a destabilizing force and has often cracked down on supporters within its borders, whether local or foreign.
