A Ukrainian long-range drone strike has reportedly targeted the VNIIR-Progress electronics factory in Cheboksary, located in Russia’s Chuvashia region, approximately 1,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

Local Russian officials confirmed the incident on Monday, stating that multiple drones were intercepted over the region, with debris falling onto the grounds of the facility.

The VNIIR-Progress factory is known for producing electronic components, including parts allegedly used in Russia’s Shahed drone systems, which have been deployed extensively in the conflict. Ukraine’s General Staff issued a statement saying the attack was aimed at disrupting Russia’s military-industrial supply chain, particularly facilities contributing to the production of attack drones.

“There were no casualties reported,” said Oleg Nikolayev, the regional governor of Chuvashia, in a statement posted to Telegram. “However, as a precaution, work at the facility has been temporarily suspended to ensure the safety of employees.”

In response, Russia’s Ministry of Defence claimed to have intercepted a total of 49 drones overnight across various regions. Ukraine, meanwhile, reported that it had shot down dozens of Russian drones over the western Rivne region in a separate retaliatory action.
