China Pledges Closer Economic and Strategic Partnership with Indonesia

In a significant diplomatic meeting held in Jakarta on Sunday, Chinese Premier Li Qiang expressed China’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Indonesia, emphasizing stronger cooperation and shared development goals.

During talks with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Premier Li highlighted the importance of mutual collaboration, stating that both nations are ready to reinforce their independent cooperation framework, jointly tackle global risks, and pursue inclusive, sustainable growth.

“China is willing to work with Indonesia to strengthen cooperation, further consolidate the framework of independent collaboration, jointly address risks and challenges, and promote common development,” Premier Li said.

The meeting underscores the strategic importance of China-Indonesia relations at a time when global economic and geopolitical uncertainties continue to rise. Both leaders signaled their intent to foster regional stability, boost trade and investment, and advance infrastructure and technological cooperation through initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative.

This reaffirmation of bilateral ties marks a pivotal moment as President Prabowo assumes leadership in Indonesia, opening the door to a new era of diplomatic and economic engagement between two of Asia’s largest economies.
