Trump Has No Public Events Scheduled After Midterm Losses

US President Donald Trump reportedly had no public events scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, 2026, following significant Republican losses in the US midterm elections.

The development came as Democrats secured control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate, marking a major political setback for Trump’s Republican Party.

Despite having no public appearances initially listed on his schedule, Trump later invited reporters to the White House construction site of his proposed ballroom.

He spent nearly 20 minutes discussing the project and watched workers install what he described as its final beam. He also briefly answered questions from journalists but did not directly address the Republican Party’s election defeats.

Trump argued that he would have won if he had personally been on the ballot, while suggesting that Republican candidates had failed to transfer the enthusiasm of his supporters into votes.

The midterm results are expected to reshape the political landscape for the remainder of Trump’s presidency. With Democrats set to control both chambers of Congress, the administration could face increased opposition to its legislative priorities, government spending proposals and other policy plans.

The election outcome also raises questions about the Republican Party’s strategy ahead of future national elections.

Although reports initially indicated that Trump had no public events scheduled for Wednesday, it would be inaccurate to say he cancelled all public appearances. His White House ballroom appearance later in the day demonstrates that he still made a public appearance.

The development follows a separate decision in late October to cancel planned campaign rallies in Kansas and Iowa, replacing them with telephone appearances ahead of the midterm elections.
