Shallipopi Accuses Dapper of Forging His Signature on 10-Year Music Deal

Nigerian singer Shallipopi has intensified his allegations against music executive Damilola “Dapper” Akinwunmi, accusing him of allegedly forging his signature to enter into music distribution agreements without his consent.

The singer claimed that his original agreement with Dapper in 2023 was strictly a management deal, but alleged that the music executive later used a forged signature to place him on a 10-year distribution contract.

Shallipopi made the allegations in a series of posts on X, saying he was already using DistroKid to distribute his music when the alleged agreement was created.

“In 2023 I signed to Dapper management only, he forge my signature and put it on a 10 years distribution contract even when I already use DistroKid,” Shallipopi alleged.

The singer further claimed that his signature was allegedly forged again to facilitate a deal with Virgin Music Group, an international music company.

According to Shallipopi, Dapper allegedly received money from Virgin Music Group under the arrangement but did not remit the funds to him. Instead, he claimed he was encouraged to continue releasing music with the assurance that his financial returns would come in the future.

The allegations are the latest development in an increasingly public dispute between Shallipopi and his former management. The singer had previously accused Dapper of withholding royalties from dozens of his songs and has now called for greater scrutiny of the agreements surrounding his music catalogue.

Shallipopi also said he had personally approached the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and submitted a statement concerning the matter. He urged the agency, government authorities and the wider public to take his allegations seriously.

The claims, however, remain allegations made by Shallipopi and have not been established by a court. Dapper’s response to the latest accusations had not been reported at the time of publication.
