Air Peace and Etihad Airways have entered into a new interline agreement aimed at improving air travel between Nigeria, West and Central Africa, and the United Arab Emirates. The partnership will allow passengers to book seamless journeys across both airlines on a single ticket, significantly expanding travel options across the region.
The agreement, announced in a joint statement on Wednesday, will provide Etihad Airways passengers with access to 20 destinations served by Air Peace across Nigeria and West and Central Africa. In return, Air Peace customers will be able to connect to Abu Dhabi through Etihad’s services from Lagos and Accra once the new routes commence.
Under the arrangement, travelers flying with Etihad will enjoy convenient onward connections from Lagos and Accra to several destinations within Air Peace’s extensive network. These include major Nigerian cities such as Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kano, Enugu, Benin City, Owerri, Warri, and Asaba, as well as key regional destinations including Abidjan, Dakar, Banjul, Freetown, Monrovia, Conakry, Bamako, Douala, and Libreville.
The airlines said the agreement aligns with Etihad Airways’ broader expansion strategy in Africa, first announced in April, which includes plans to introduce a daily Abu Dhabi–Lagos service. Once the route becomes operational, passengers will be able to book connecting flights through Abu Dhabi while enjoying seamless access to Air Peace’s domestic and regional network.
Speaking on the partnership, Etihad Airways’ Chief Commercial and Revenue Officer, Arik De, described Nigeria as a strategic market in the airline’s long-term African growth plans. He said the collaboration gives Etihad customers access to one of Africa’s largest domestic and regional airline networks while opening Abu Dhabi to Air Peace passengers. According to him, partnerships with established local airlines are essential to strengthening connectivity and enhancing customer experience.
Also commenting on the agreement, Air Peace Chief Commercial Officer, Nowel Ngala, said the airline remains committed to expanding travel opportunities for Nigerian and West African passengers. He noted that the collaboration with Etihad will offer customers easier access to Abu Dhabi while welcoming international travelers into Air Peace’s growing network across the region.
The airlines confirmed that eligible connecting journeys will be available for booking through both carriers’ sales platforms once the agreement officially takes effect.
The partnership comes at a time of strengthening economic relations between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates, following the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed in January 2026. Growing trade ties, coupled with a large Nigerian community living and working in the UAE, are expected to increase demand for direct and connecting flights between both countries.
The new interline agreement also reflects Air Peace’s ongoing strategy of expanding its international footprint through strategic partnerships. Earlier this year, the airline signed a Special Prorate Agreement with Turkish Airlines, allowing passengers to travel on a single ticket from Nigeria through Istanbul to destinations across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas. Air Peace also strengthened its partnership with Emirates, enhancing seamless travel between Nigeria, the UAE, and London.
In addition to its global partnerships, Air Peace has continued to expand its regional operations by increasing flight frequencies between Lagos and major West African cities, including Abidjan, Dakar, Banjul, Monrovia, and Freetown. The airline’s broader objective is to position Lagos as a leading aviation hub for West Africa while improving connectivity for business and leisure travelers.
The latest collaboration with Etihad Airways represents another significant milestone for Air Peace as it continues to broaden its international reach and offer passengers more convenient travel options across Africa and beyond.
