Kano Hisbah Bans Mobile Phone Movie Download Business Across All 44 LGAs

The Kano State Hisbah Board has announced a statewide ban on the mobile phone movie download business, prohibiting the distribution of films and video content through mobile devices across all 44 local government areas of the state.

The decision, according to the board, is part of ongoing efforts to uphold public morality, promote good conduct and ensure compliance with Islamic teachings and cultural values.

The announcement was made by the Deputy Commander-General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Dr. Mujahid Aminuddeen, who said investigations carried out by the agency showed that many operators involved in the business were distributing movies and videos containing content considered inconsistent with Islamic principles and accepted societal norms.

He explained that the widespread circulation of such materials has contributed to what the board described as the moral decline of young people, while also increasing access to content regarded as inappropriate within the state.

According to Aminuddeen, the ban is intended to protect the moral upbringing of residents, encourage positive values and preserve the religious and cultural standards that guide the state.

He further stated that the directive takes immediate effect and that the board will work closely with relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure full implementation across Kano State.

The Hisbah Board also warned operators engaged in the mobile phone movie download business to immediately cease the activity. It stressed that anyone found violating the directive would face sanctions in accordance with the law.

The latest action underscores the Kano State Hisbah Board’s continued enforcement of regulations aimed at promoting public decency and ensuring that entertainment content distributed within the state aligns with its religious and moral framework. The development is expected to significantly affect businesses involved in mobile content distribution while reinforcing the board’s commitment to implementing its mandate across the state.
