Khamenei Warns Trump of Downfall, Citing the Fate of Past World Tyrants

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has issued a sharp warning to the U.S. President Donald Trump, declaring that leaders who rule with arrogance and pride ultimately face the same fate as historical tyrants who were eventually overthrown.

Speaking on Friday in remarks broadcast on Iranian state television, Khamenei criticized Trump’s posture toward the world, accusing him of judging nations from a position of power while ignoring the lessons of history. Referring to unrest in Iran, the Supreme Leader alleged that foreign-backed forces were attempting to destabilize the country, a claim Tehran has repeatedly made during periods of protest.

In his address, Khamenei drew parallels between Trump and figures such as Pharaoh, Nimrod, Reza Shah Pahlavi, and Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, describing them as rulers who appeared invincible at the height of their authority but were ultimately brought down. According to Khamenei, history shows that dominance built on arrogance does not last.

“That man who proudly and arrogantly sits in the White House and judges the whole world,” Khamenei said, “should know that all the arrogant people of this world were overthrown when they were at the peak of their pride. This one will also be overthrown.”

The comments add to the long-standing tension between Tehran and Washington, reflecting Iran’s broader narrative of resistance against U.S. influence and pressure. Khamenei’s remarks were widely circulated across Iranian media and social platforms, reinforcing his message that political power, no matter how strong, is temporary when rooted in what he views as oppression or hubris.
