ACP Benjamin Hundeyin Assumes New Role as Commander of Police Mobile Force Squadron 31 in Delta State

Former Force Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Benjamin Hundeyin, has officially assumed a new position as the Commander of Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadron 31 in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State, following a recent leadership reshuffle within the Nigeria Police Force.

Hundeyin’s first public appearance since leaving his role as the Force spokesperson surfaced on Monday through photographs showing him leading a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Area, Jude Chukwunwike, at the council secretariat earlier this month.

The visit highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration between the Police Mobile Force Squadron 31 and the local government in enhancing security and maintaining peace within the area.

According to information shared by Fetuga Robert-Anyawu, a media aide to the Delta State Governor, Hundeyin attended the meeting in his capacity as the Commander of PMF Squadron 31. The engagement focused on fostering stronger partnerships between security agencies and local authorities to address security challenges and improve public safety across the local government.

Several top government officials participated in the meeting, including the Vice Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government, Patricia Ekwutozam Adolue; the Council Secretary, Prince Tony Ebube; the Supervisory Councillor for Health, Austin Unorchie; and other senior council officials.

ACP Hundeyin was appointed Force Public Relations Officer in September 2025 by the then Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun. At the time of his appointment, he held the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police before earning promotion to Assistant Commissioner of Police during his tenure.

Before becoming the face of the Nigeria Police Force at the national level, Hundeyin served as the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, where he gained widespread recognition for his active public engagement and timely communication on policing matters. He also previously served at the Zone 2 Police Command Headquarters in Lagos.

Beyond his domestic policing responsibilities, Hundeyin has international peacekeeping experience. In 2020, he was part of Nigeria’s contingent deployed to the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Darfur, Sudan, where he contributed to international efforts aimed at maintaining peace and stability in the conflict-affected region.

Academically, Hundeyin holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Lagos State University (LASU) and a master’s degree in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan, qualifications that have complemented his career in law enforcement and public communication.

His redeployment follows a broader leadership restructuring within the Nigeria Police Force after the appointment of Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu, which saw several senior officers assigned to new strategic roles across the country.

As Commander of Police Mobile Force Squadron 31, Hundeyin is expected to lead tactical policing operations in Delta State while strengthening cooperation with local communities, government authorities, and other security agencies to improve public safety and enhance the effectiveness of law enforcement in the region.

His appointment marks a new chapter in a policing career that has spanned operational command, public relations, and international peacekeeping, positioning him to bring both leadership experience and strategic communication skills to his new assignment.
