NVIDIA is making a major push into the personal computer market with the launch of a new AI-focused chip designed to compete directly with long-time industry leaders Intel and Advanced Micro Devices.
The company announced that its new RTX Spark Superchip will begin appearing in laptops and desktop computers later this year as Nvidia expands its presence beyond graphics processing and artificial intelligence infrastructure into mainstream consumer PCs.
The announcement was made by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang during the Computex technology trade show in Taipei, one of the world’s biggest events for the computer hardware industry.
According to Huang, the RTX Spark Superchip will power next-generation AI-ready computers from major PC manufacturers including Dell Technologies and Lenovo beginning this fall.
The new chip combines both a central processing unit and a graphics processor into a single integrated platform, allowing computers to handle artificial intelligence tasks more efficiently while improving overall performance and energy management.
Nvidia developed the chip in partnership with MediaTek, a leading semiconductor company based in Taiwan. The devices powered by the new chip will operate on Windows for Arm, Microsoft’s Arm-based version of Windows designed for next-generation low-power computing devices.
The move signals Nvidia’s growing ambition to reshape the PC market as artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into everyday computing. Industry analysts believe the company is positioning itself to capitalize on rising demand for AI-powered laptops and desktops capable of running advanced machine learning applications, AI assistants, and generative AI tools directly on devices.
For years, Intel has maintained dominance in the PC processor market, while AMD has steadily increased competition with its Ryzen and AI-focused chip technologies. Nvidia’s entry into the sector introduces a powerful new challenger backed by its leadership in AI computing and graphics technology.
The launch also reflects a broader shift within the technology industry as manufacturers race to build hardware optimized for artificial intelligence workloads. Companies are increasingly focusing on AI-enabled personal computers that can process complex tasks locally without relying heavily on cloud-based computing.
