A major drug smuggling operation has been uncovered in the United Kingdom after authorities discovered approximately $8.4 million worth of cocaine concealed inside a freight truck transporting products from Skims, the popular shapewear and loungewear company co-founded by Kim Kardashian.
According to UK officials, the discovery was made in September at a port in Essex after border officers inspected a truck arriving from the Netherlands. The vehicle was reportedly transporting 28 pallets of legitimate Skims merchandise when authorities identified suspicious modifications in the rear doors of the truck.
A detailed search revealed specially built hidden compartments containing approximately 90 kilograms, or nearly 198 pounds, of cocaine. Authorities estimate the seized drugs had a street value of around £7 million, equivalent to roughly $8.4 million.
The driver, identified as 31-year-old Jakub Jan Konkel, later admitted to agreeing to transport the narcotics in exchange for approximately €4,500. Despite the relatively small payment, the consequences proved severe.
Earlier this month, Konkel was sentenced to 13 years and six months in prison after pleading guilty to importing Class A drugs into the UK.
Law enforcement officials were quick to clarify that the shipment of Skims products was entirely legitimate and that the narcotics were hidden within the modified sections of the truck itself, not inside the clothing or product packaging.
Authorities also emphasized that there is no evidence linking Skims, Kim Kardashian, or any representatives of the company to the trafficking scheme.
The case has generated significant online attention due to the unexpected connection to one of the world’s most recognizable celebrity-backed fashion brands. However, investigators have made it clear that the brand appears to have been unintentionally caught up in a criminal operation using legitimate cargo as cover.
Founded by Kardashian, Skims has grown into a billion-dollar business known for its inclusive shapewear, underwear, and loungewear collections. The brand has rapidly expanded globally and become one of the most recognizable names in fashion and lifestyle retail.
While the company itself remains uninvolved in the criminal investigation, the incident highlights a broader issue facing international logistics and border security, where organized criminal networks increasingly exploit commercial supply chains to move illegal substances across borders.
For now, UK authorities say the seizure marks another significant disruption of narcotics trafficking operations entering the country, while the headline-grabbing involvement of a Skims shipment has only amplified public interest in the case.
