Arsenal F.C. have officially been crowned Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years, ending one of the longest title droughts in the club’s modern history and delivering a long-awaited moment of celebration for fans across north London and around the world.
After a season defined by relentless pressure, narrow margins, and a fierce title race, Arsenal’s championship victory was confirmed not on the pitch, but from home as they watched their closest rivals fail to keep the race alive.
Manchester City F.C. needed a victory against Bournemouth on Tuesday night to push the title battle to the final day of the season. However, Pep Guardiola’s side were unable to secure the result they needed, handing Arsenal the crown before the final round of fixtures.
Despite a dramatic late effort from Erling Haaland, whose 95th-minute equaliser briefly gave City hope, it was not enough to overturn the damage caused by an earlier strike from Eli Junior Kroupi in the first half.
The draw means Arsenal remain on 82 points with one match still left to play, mathematically out of reach and officially confirmed as champions.
For Arsenal supporters, the triumph marks the end of a painful wait stretching back to the 2003–04 campaign, when legendary manager Arsène Wenger led the club’s famous “Invincibles” side to an unbeaten league title.
The club will finally lift the Premier League trophy on Sunday, capping off what has already become one of the most memorable seasons in Arsenal’s recent history.
But the campaign may still get even bigger. Arsenal now have the opportunity to secure an extraordinary double if they defeat Paris Saint-Germain F.C. in Budapest on May 30 to win the UEFA Champions League.
A European triumph would not only hand Arsenal their first-ever Champions League title, but could also cement this as arguably the greatest season in the club’s history.
After years of rebuilding, near misses, and growing expectations, Arsenal have finally returned to the summit of English football. For a fanbase that has waited more than two decades to celebrate another league title, the moment feels both overdue and historic.
With silverware already secured and more potentially on the horizon, this could be remembered as the season Arsenal fully announced their return as one of Europe’s elite clubs.
