Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has issued a public apology to citizens over the ongoing electricity challenges affecting homes, businesses, and industries across the country.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, the minister acknowledged the hardship caused by the disruptions, particularly as the country experiences intense heat during the dry season. He expressed regret over the situation, noting that unreliable power supply has placed additional strain on daily life, from small businesses trying to stay afloat to schools and industries struggling to maintain operations.
Adelabu explained that the current issues were largely due to factors beyond the government’s immediate control, but reassured Nigerians that efforts are being intensified to restore stability. According to him, authorities are working around the clock to address the challenges and return the power sector to the level of performance previously achieved.
He pointed out that in 2025, the government received commendation for improvements in electricity supply, adding that the same commitment is being applied now to resolve the present difficulties. The minister emphasized that the setbacks are temporary and do not reflect the administration’s long-term goals for the sector.
Offering reassurance, Adelabu expressed confidence that the situation would be brought under control within the next few weeks. He stressed that the government remains focused on delivering a more reliable and efficient power supply, promising that Nigerians will soon begin to see improvements.
The apology and renewed commitment come at a critical time, as consistent electricity remains a key driver for economic growth and improved quality of life in Nigeria.
