Nigerian magician and illusionist Ibitoye Kingfahd, popularly known as FaddotheGreat, has officially earned a place in the Guinness World Records for the longest magic show performed by an individual — a feat that is already being celebrated as a milestone for the Nigerian entertainment industry.
FaddotheGreat confirmed the achievement in an Instagram post, sharing photos of himself holding his Guinness certificate. In his announcement, he described the moment as both a personal triumph and a national victory, expressing gratitude and emphasizing that the accomplishment reflects the limitless potential within Nigeria’s creative community.
The record attempt took place between November 27 and 29, 2025, at the POP Landmark Centre. Over the course of 50 consecutive hours, he performed non-stop, surpassing the previous record of 30 hours and 45 minutes set in 2004 by Richard Smith. By extending the performance nearly 20 hours beyond the former benchmark, FaddotheGreat set a new global standard in endurance magic.
According to reports, he executed more than 1,200 unique tricks during the marathon, ranging from intricate card routines to mentalism and large-scale stage illusions. Guinness guidelines required that he avoid repeating any trick within a four-hour window, making the challenge not only physically demanding but mentally rigorous. The performance required precision, stamina, and strategic planning to maintain creativity and energy throughout the two-day spectacle.
Beyond the headline-grabbing numbers, FaddotheGreat described the record as a statement for the Nigerian magic industry. He noted that magic in Africa has often been misunderstood or undervalued, and he hopes this achievement will help reposition it as a refined art form built on logic, skill, and theatrical excellence.
A First Class Civil Engineering graduate of Adeleke University, he reportedly spent over a year preparing for the record attempt. That preparation included designing and building many of his own props, as well as undergoing physical conditioning to withstand the demands of a 50-hour performance.
From humble beginnings as a self-taught enthusiast, FaddotheGreat has grown into a recognized performer at major events such as Lagos Startup Week, the Pulse Influencer Awards, and Light-Up Lagos. Known for crafting many of his own illusions, he has steadily built a reputation as one of Nigeria’s most innovative magicians.
His Guinness World Record achievement not only cements his name in global history but also shines a spotlight on the evolving creative arts scene in Nigeria — proving that world-class talent can emerge from any corner of the globe when passion meets preparation.
