Drake Reveals He Purchased Boston Celtics Hat Allegedly Linked to Pablo Escobar

Drake has once again sparked conversation online after revealing what may be one of the most controversial additions to his growing memorabilia collection — a green Boston Celtics cap reportedly once worn by Pablo Escobar.

The rap superstar, known for collecting rare watches, luxury fashion, and culturally significant artifacts, shared the hat on his Instagram Story without a caption. The image showed the vintage Celtics cap resting on a table, leaving fans to interpret its significance on their own. Shortly afterward, Drake posted a still from a documentary that appeared to show Escobar wearing what looked like the same hat, fueling speculation across social media and hip-hop blogs.

The hat in question had previously surfaced online. Reports indicate that a green Boston Celtics cap was listed on eBay by an account using the name “PabloEscobarEstate.” According to archived details from the listing, the item allegedly came with documentation that included the signature of Escobar’s brother, Roberto Escobar. The reported asking price was $75,000, with no bidding option available.

Although there has been no official confirmation that Drake purchased that specific listing, the timing of his post has led many fans to connect the dots. In the world of hip hop, image and symbolism often carry as much weight as music itself. Collectibles tied to powerful — and sometimes controversial — historical figures can become part of an artist’s broader brand narrative.

Pablo Escobar remains one of the most infamous figures in modern criminal history. As the leader of the Medellín Cartel, he amassed enormous wealth during the height of his operations and was often referred to as the “King of Cocaine.” Decades after his death, artifacts linked to him continue to attract interest from collectors, historians, and pop culture enthusiasts alike.

Drake’s decision to showcase the hat without commentary has only amplified the conversation. For some fans, it’s another bold flex from one of music’s biggest stars. For others, it raises questions about the cultural fascination with controversial historical figures. Either way, the post has succeeded in doing what many high-profile collectibles do best — getting people talking.
