Saudi Arabia to Investigate Alleged Secret Shipment of Kaaba’s Kiswa to Jeffrey Epstein

Saudi Arabia is reportedly preparing to take action against individuals accused of secretly facilitating the shipment of sacred Kiswa cloth to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein in 2017, following the emergence of newly released emails linked to the so-called Epstein files.

According to the correspondence, Epstein allegedly arranged for three pieces of the Kiswa — the black, gold-embroidered cloth that covers the Kaaba in Mecca — to be transported from Saudi Arabia to his residence in the United States. The Kiswa holds immense religious and cultural significance for Muslims around the world, as it adorns Islam’s holiest site.

The emails, dated February and March 2017, reportedly detail how the items were shipped by air freight to Florida via British Airways. The documents outline coordination involving invoices, customs paperwork, and delivery logistics. The communication also references assistance from regional contacts, including Emirati businesswoman Aziza al-Ahmadi and a Saudi intermediary identified as Abdullah al-Maari.

The revelations have sparked serious concerns, particularly given the sacred status of the Kiswa. Each year, the cloth is replaced during the annual Hajj pilgrimage, and portions of the previous covering are sometimes preserved or gifted under strict protocols. Any unauthorized transfer or sale of such material would likely raise legal, ethical, and religious questions.
