U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stark message to Iran on Wednesday, saying a “massive armada” led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln is moving toward Iranian waters and urging Tehran to negotiate a deal on its nuclear ambitions or face serious consequences.
In a lengthy post on his Truth Social platform, Trump described the naval force as larger than the one previously deployed toward Venezuela and ready to “rapidly fulfil its mission…with speed and violence, if necessary.” He expressed hope that Iran would come to the negotiating table to agree on a “fair and equitable deal” that ensures “no nuclear weapons,” adding that time is running out.
Trump also referenced a prior U.S. action he called “Operation Midnight Hammer,” saying that past failure to strike a deal had led to significant damage in Iran, and warned that a future attack could be “far worse.”
His remarks mark a sharp escalation in rhetoric amid ongoing tensions over Iran’s nuclear program and follow Iran’s public stance that it has not requested negotiations with the United States. Iran’s Foreign Minister stated this week that Tehran views threats and coercive language as barriers to meaningful diplomatic engagement.
The situation comes at a time of heightened regional sensitivity, with global leaders watching closely as strategic naval assets mobilize and diplomatic exchanges continue. Trump’s appeal to negotiations underscores a dual message of forceful brinkmanship and a conditional opening for dialogue, reflecting broader concerns about nuclear proliferation and Middle Eastern stability.
