Afrobeat singer and activist Seun Kuti has made a bold accusation against the Nigerian government, alleging that authorities are using the Boko Haram insurgency as a tool to forcefully displace citizens and gain access to natural resources in affected communities.
In a viral statement circulating on social media, Kuti claimed that the government’s real motive behind the prolonged insurgency in northern Nigeria is to control and exploit valuable mineral and land resources.
According to him, “The Nigerian government can’t move natural resources if people are still living in those communities, so they’re using Boko Haram to displace our people and steal the resources beneath their land. We now have over 2 million internally displaced persons.”
The singer and political activist argued that the humanitarian crisis caused by the ongoing conflict is not just a result of terrorism but a deliberate strategy to seize land and wealth from vulnerable populations.
Seun Kuti, known for his outspoken criticism of government corruption and social injustice, has continued his father Fela Kuti’s legacy of activism through music and public commentary on national issues.
