Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has opened up about the emotions surrounding his clash against his former club, Borussia Dortmund, describing the encounter as a “special match.”

The Norwegian star, who played for Dortmund between 2020 and 2022 before making a high-profile move to Manchester City, reflected on the significance of facing his old teammates and fans once again.

Speaking ahead of the game, Haaland said, “It’s a special match. I have great memories from my time at Dortmund, and I still have a lot of respect for the club and the fans. But now, I’m fully focused on helping Manchester City get the win.”

During his time in Germany, Haaland became one of Europe’s most prolific forwards, scoring 86 goals in 89 appearances for Borussia Dortmund and earning a reputation as one of football’s most lethal finishers. His performances ultimately paved the way for his record-breaking transfer to City, where he continues to dominate the Premier League and Champions League.
