An unusual incident occurred on Wednesday when the Indian Air Force Mi-8 helicopter carrying President Droupadi Murmu got stuck on freshly poured concrete shortly after landing at the Pramadam Indoor Stadium in Kerala.
According to reports, the aircraft’s tyres became lodged in the soft concrete surface of the temporary helipad, which had been completed only hours before the President’s arrival. Quick action from police and fire department personnel helped free the helicopter by pushing it forward, ensuring the situation remained under control.
Officials confirmed that there were no safety concerns for President Murmu and her entourage. The landing, despite the minor mishap, was described as safe and uneventful.
The helicopter was initially scheduled to land at Nilakkal, but adverse weather conditions prompted authorities to change the landing location to Pramadam at the last minute. The hasty preparation of the new helipad left the concrete insufficiently cured, leading to the unexpected incident.
Following the event, local authorities inspected the site and assured that corrective measures would be taken to prevent such occurrences in the future.
