Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has accused the United States of planning an armed intervention aimed at toppling his government and exploiting Venezuela’s vast natural resources.
Speaking in a televised address, Maduro claimed that Washington’s alleged agenda involves orchestrating regime change, installing a puppet administration, and taking control of the country’s oil, gas, and gold reserves.
“The people of the United States know very well that what is being planned against Venezuela is an armed aggression designed to change our government, impose a puppet regime, and steal our natural wealth — oil, gas, gold, and all that belongs to our nation,” Maduro said.
He emphasized that Venezuela remains committed to maintaining its independence and following its own political and economic model despite increasing international pressure.
The Venezuelan leader has long accused Western nations, particularly the U.S., of attempting to destabilize his government through sanctions, economic restrictions, and political interference. His latest remarks come amid renewed tensions between Caracas and Washington, following U.S. criticism of Venezuela’s governance and human rights record.
Maduro reaffirmed his stance that Venezuela will continue to “chart its own path” and resist any external attempts to undermine its sovereignty.
