Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has arrived in Denmark for the European Political Community summit, where he made a bold statement certain to spark anger in Moscow. Speaking to reporters, Zelensky confirmed that he has discussed the supply of long-range weapons with U.S. President Donald Trump, specifically for strikes deep inside Russian territory.

“Now everything will depend on the decision of the U.S. president,” Zelensky said, underscoring the significance of Washington’s stance in shaping the future of Ukraine’s war strategy.

The summit in Copenhagen gathered around 50 European leaders as Kyiv continues to seek greater support amid shifting U.S. financial policies. With Washington reducing direct financial aid, Zelensky is intensifying appeals to Europe to step up its role.

On Wednesday, European Union leaders debated proposals to tap into frozen Russian assets to provide a €140 billion ($164 billion) loan package for Ukraine. At Thursday’s gathering, Zelensky is expected to push harder for commitments, not only in financial terms but also in advanced military capabilities to sustain Ukraine’s fight against Russia.

The request for long-range weapons marks a significant escalation in Kyiv’s calls for support, with potential consequences for the conflict’s trajectory and broader international relations.
