A video from the Nigerian Army Surveillance Room has surfaced, capturing the moment Boko Haram insurgents advanced toward the 152 Task Force Battalion base in Banki town, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State—just before the facility came under heavy attack.
The footage, recorded at the 7 Division headquarters in Maiduguri, shows hundreds of Boko Haram fighters marching in formation as they approached the military base. Despite the clear visuals, reports indicate that soldiers stationed at the base were not alerted in time, leaving them vulnerable to the surprise assault.
The 152 Battalion, an active operational unit of the Nigerian Army engaged in Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in the northeast, was overrun during the raid. According to security sources, the insurgents killed an unconfirmed number of soldiers, destroyed armored tanks and military vehicles, and looted large quantities of ammunition.
The attack highlights the persistent threat posed by Boko Haram in the North East and raises serious concerns about intelligence lapses, coordination, and the safety of troops on the frontline of Nigeria’s counter-insurgency efforts.
