At 6 a.m. on Wednesday, the Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel in Hong Kong’s Southern District was hit by massive waves triggered by Super Typhoon Ragasa, leaving parts of the luxury seaside property flooded.

The powerful storm surge shattered the hotel’s glass doors and sent water rushing into its lobby, as hurricane-force winds battered the city, toppling trees and inundating coastal neighborhoods.

A viral video circulating online captured the dramatic scene of a man being swept away by the incoming floodwater inside the lobby. The water level rose to knee height, while hotel staff could be heard urging guests and visitors to evacuate for safety.

In an official statement, the Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel confirmed that no injuries were reported. The management added that extra resources had been deployed to mitigate the storm’s impact and to ensure the safety and well-being of guests during the crisis.

Typhoon Ragasa, the world’s most powerful tropical cyclone so far this year, continues to unleash widespread damage across Hong Kong, underscoring the city’s vulnerability to extreme weather and rising sea levels.
