Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has staged a show of force amid rising tensions with Washington, declaring that U.S. troops would not be able to invade his country as American naval forces gather in the Southern Caribbean.
Speaking to Venezuelan troops on Thursday, Maduro dismissed the possibility of a U.S. incursion, insisting that the nation was fully prepared to safeguard its sovereignty.
“There’s no way they can enter Venezuela,” he said. “Today, we are stronger than yesterday. Today, we are more prepared to defend peace, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.”
The remarks came as U.S. warships arrived near Venezuela’s territorial waters in what Washington described as an expanded operation against Latin American drug cartels. The deployment has fueled speculation of potential escalation between the two nations, with Caracas viewing the move as a direct threat.
Maduro’s comments highlight his government’s determination to project strength at a time of heightened geopolitical tension, as both nations exchange sharp rhetoric over security and legitimacy in the region.
