Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s latest visit to the White House on Monday took an unexpected turn when U.S. President Donald Trump made lighthearted comments about his guest’s attire. The exchange came during a brief interaction with right-wing reporter Brian Glenn, who had previously criticized Zelensky’s clothing during an earlier meeting with Trump.
This time, however, the mood was friendlier. Glenn, now working with pro-Trump media outlet Real America’s Voice, praised the Ukrainian leader’s appearance, telling him: “You look fabulous in that suit.” Trump quickly joined in, pointing out the irony of the moment: “I said the same thing. Isn’t that nice? That’s the one that attacked you last time.”

Zelensky, dressed in an all-black ensemble—jacket, shirt, and slacks—designed by Ukrainian fashion designer Viktor Anisimov, responded with humor. Turning to Glenn, he quipped: “You are in the same suit. I changed, you did not.”

The light-hearted banter offered a brief moment of levity against the backdrop of serious discussions surrounding the ongoing war in Ukraine and U.S. support for Kyiv. It also highlighted the symbolic weight Zelensky’s attire has carried in his diplomatic appearances, often seen as an extension of his wartime identity and message.
