Terrifying scenes are emerging from Barroja Village in Arganil, where a fierce forest fire is currently burning in Portugal’s Coimbra District. The blaze, fueled by hot and dry summer conditions, has engulfed large swathes of vegetation and is spreading dangerously close to residential areas.

Firefighting teams have been deployed to the scene, battling the flames on the ground and with aerial support. Despite their efforts, strong winds and rugged terrain are making containment operations extremely difficult. Local authorities have issued warnings to residents, with precautionary evacuations underway in parts of the village as the fire threatens homes and infrastructure.
