At least 12 people were injured in Russian airstrikes on Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region, the country’s foreign affairs ministry confirmed on Sunday. The attacks, carried out with guided aerial bombs, struck residential areas, a bus station, and a medical clinic, causing widespread damage.

According to Ukrainian officials, emergency workers rescued one person from beneath the rubble of destroyed buildings. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said first responders, medics, and police were working tirelessly to assist the injured and assess the damage. “Unfortunately, there are casualties,” he said, renewing calls for stronger international sanctions and increased global pressure on Russia.

“Strength is needed – from the United States, from Europe, from all nations in the world that want peace and stability in international relations,” Zelenskiy added.
Zaporizhzhia has remained a key flashpoint in the conflict since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The region has repeatedly endured heavy bombardments due to its strategic importance on the front lines.
