Crystal Palace pulled off a stunning upset at Wembley, twice coming from behind to beat a revamped Liverpool side and claim the Community Shield for the first time in the club’s history. After a thrilling 2-2 draw in normal time, Palace held their nerve in a tense penalty shootout, winning 3-2.

Liverpool’s new signings Hugo Ekitike and Jeremie Frimpong both found the net to give the Premier League champions the lead on two occasions. However, Palace hit back through Jean-Philippe Mateta and Ismaila Sarr, forcing the match into penalties.

In a dramatic shootout, Mohamed Salah fired over from the spot, while Alexis Mac Allister and Harvey Elliott were denied by an inspired Dean Henderson, whose heroics sealed Palace’s historic victory.

The triumph comes just months after Roy Hodgson’s side lifted their first major trophy by defeating Manchester City in May’s FA Cup final, marking a remarkable rise for the South London club.
