Justin Sun, the founder of the TRON blockchain, made history this week by reaching space aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard spacecraft.
The Jeff Bezos-founded aerospace company successfully launched its 14th human spaceflight — and 34th mission in the New Shepard program — carrying Sun and five other crew members on a suborbital journey that lasted just minutes but marked a milestone for both space travel and the crypto world.
With this flight, Sun has become the youngest Chinese-born commercial astronaut and the first crypto entrepreneur featured on a Forbes cover to travel to space. His journey not only underscores the growing intersection between emerging technologies and commercial space exploration but also highlights crypto’s expanding presence in groundbreaking global industries.

Sun secured his seat on New Shepard back in 2021, placing a $28 million winning bid during the spacecraft’s first seat auction.

The funds were donated to Club for the Future, Blue Origin’s nonprofit foundation focused on inspiring future generations in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). After a four-year wait, the TRON founder finally got his chance to soar above Earth’s atmosphere.

The brief flight offered passengers a few minutes of weightlessness and breathtaking views of Earth, a life-changing experience for many. For Sun, it symbolized a personal dream realized — and a proud moment for the blockchain community, which continues to break boundaries well beyond finance.
As private spaceflight becomes increasingly accessible to civilians, Justin Sun’s journey serves as a powerful example of how innovators from the world of crypto and Web3 are now participating in the new space age — not just as investors, but as explorers.
