Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has called for a public apology from Science and Technology Secretary Peter Kyle, following explosive remarks that accused Farage of siding with predators by opposing the UK’s online safety laws.
In a broadcast from Reform UK’s London headquarters, Farage responded fiercely to Kyle’s statement—originally made during a Sky News interview—in which the cabinet minister suggested that resistance to online safety reforms was akin to supporting individuals like the late convicted predator Jimmy Savile. Farage didn’t hold back in his response, describing the accusation as “so absolutely disgusting that it’s almost beyond belief.”

“Just how low can the Labour government sink in its desperation?” Farage asked. “Yes, of course they’re in trouble. They’re well behind us in the opinion polls. But frankly, to say that I would do anything that would in any way aid and abet people like Jimmy Savile—it’s so below the belt it’s almost not true.”

The Reform UK leader emphasized that his opposition to the Online Safety Bill is rooted in concerns over free speech and government overreach, not a disregard for child safety or online protections.

Farage was not alone in his condemnation. Former Reform UK chair Zia Yusuf also lashed out at Kyle’s comments, calling them “outrageous” and “disgusting.” “It’s one of the most outrageous and disgusting things a politician has said in the political arena that I can remember,” Yusuf added.
As tensions between Reform UK and the Labour government escalate ahead of the upcoming elections, the clash over online safety legislation and political rhetoric is becoming increasingly personal. Farage’s demand for an apology adds another layer of controversy to an already heated national debate.
