U.S. President Donald Trump touched down in Scotland on Friday evening, marking the start of a four-day visit that combines high-level diplomacy with personal engagements at his Turnberry golf resort.
Air Force One landed at Prestwick Airport in Ayrshire just before 8:30 p.m. local time, where the president was greeted by Scottish Secretary Ian Murray before boarding Marine One for the short flight to Turnberry.
During his visit, Trump is set to meet with key political figures, including UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, Scottish First Minister John Swinney, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. One of the top items on the agenda is a discussion with Prime Minister Starmer on the recently implemented UK-US trade agreement, with Trump indicating the possibility of finalizing or amending parts of the deal.

Speaking to reporters before leaving the U.S., Trump expressed optimism about the meetings ahead. “We’re going to have a good time. I think the Prime Minister and I get along very well,” he said, confirming plans for a dinner with Starmer at Turnberry. He also noted his upcoming trip to Aberdeen, which he called “the oil capital of Europe.”
The former president also had warm words for Scotland’s First Minister John Swinney, referring to him as a “good man” and saying he was “looking forward” to their meeting.
Trump’s visit comes at a time of shifting political dynamics in both the UK and Europe, and his meetings are expected to touch on trade, energy, and transatlantic cooperation. While his stay includes time at his luxury resort, the focus remains on building diplomatic bridges and potentially shaping the next chapter of US-UK relations.
